Spring is always a time of renewal, and this year’s Easter Mini Sessions felt especially sweet. With pastel colors, soft textures, and plenty of baby giggles, these sessions were a joy to photograph — even when the babies kept us on our toes!

I had a range of ages this year, which meant every setup was thoughtfully customized. Little Charli showed up in the most perfect pastel dress and became the first to try out my brand new bamboo toddler chair. At first she was unsure, but with help from her mom and auntie cheering behind the scenes, she warmed up beautifully and we got some darling shots — especially with her matching purple egg!

Walker, at just 5.5 weeks old, was such a gentle presence. I created a baby-safe floor set just for him, allowing a versatile set to utilized the backdrop and also do overhead shots that showcased his sweet expressions while keeping him comfy.

My niece Paige (4 months) showed off her tummy time skills like a pro! Her parents helped position her and coax those genuine smiles — they really know her best. Dressed in a light blue outfit from her grandparents, she looked adorable in every frame. Though she’s not quite crawling yet, she certainly tried — and we captured that energy with some propped-up basket crate photos (always supervised, of course!).

My niece Addy is officially eight (how?!), and she helped me kick off this year’s Easter Minis by modeling for the promo photos. She showed up full of energy and sparkle — dancing, egg hunting, and giving me every expression in the book. It was the perfect way to welcome spring and celebrate her birthday.
One of the sweetest touches was the Easter basket we used in her set — it was handwoven out of pine needles by my late Grandma Mason. I like to think I got a lot of my creativity from her. Seeing Addy pose with that basket brought back so many memories of the Easter traditions we’ve shared across generations.

In a second round of photos, Addy got to play dress-up with the studio crown collection. She tried on the princess crown and a flower crown, and then we did “model’s choice” — where she got to pick the poses and run the show. I love giving kids the space to express themselves during sessions, and Addy definitely delivered.

And of course, no Easter season is complete without the annual Family Easter Egg Hunt Trophy making an appearance! My brother and his wife brought it to the studio so Addy could pose with it — and maybe rub in the fact that I didn’t win last year. (To be fair, I was pregnant! 😂) This tradition started with Grandma Mason and is now hosted by Aunt Pam, and let me tell you, the competition is real. I may have been a bit competitive growing up… but my brother takes it to a whole new level.

These photos feel like a beautiful blend of past and present — celebrating not just the season, but the traditions, memories, and love that carry on year after year.
And of course, I couldn’t resist snapping a few test shots with my own daughter, Skyler. At almost four months, she’s full of curiosity and charm. We did a few mommy and me test photos together — even if her dress was a little too big, they were still super cute. We also did basket test photos of her lying on her back. I loved seeing her hug the little carrot and smile with her “My First Easter” hat.

While I didn’t book as many sessions as I had hoped, this year was still full of joy and learning. Balancing my photography business with life as a new mama has been an adventure, but I'm figuring it out — often with a baby sleeping in my lap as I work on my phone (like right now!). Every step back into creative work reminds me how much I love what I do.

Happy Easter from me and my little studio to you and yours!
